Hello Buffalo and Mars

Hello Buffalo and Mars

Hello Buffalo and Mars!!! is a piece I wrote while doing graduate work at SUNY at Buffalo. A few years earlier I was working a summer job and me and a buddy replaced the roof on the old Erie Railroad freight house on Exchange Street in Buffalo.
For reasons that are now unclear, I painted my little guy Count Ivan and his jaunty greeting on the roof of the warehouse, which faced the NY State Thruway. He greeted hundreds of thousands of commuters and travelers over the decade or so my roof job lasted on the building.

I shot the little films accompanying this song a week or two ago while visiting my son Sam for his wedding to Busola in Boston. We were having a fine dinner the day after the wedding on the roof of Sam & Busola’s apartment building. Sam’s new father in law Remi prepared a wonderful barbecue for both families. We watched the sun set over the Boston skyline as the crew set up for a Pink concert at Fenway to occur the next evening.
