Big Dave’s Sweet Revenge
Big Dave’s Sweet Revenge was something I wrote in an open D tuning when I lived in Maine or Vermont, don’t recall now. I do clearly recall playing it for an auditorium full of the unsuspecting when I taught mathematics at the University of Maine.
At the time a music professor there said, “not bad, try not to batter the guitar into submission with the ending”.
This recording, made in 1986, a year or so after my teaching stint at the University of Maine, has hopefully a less vehement delivery.
The piece is what you might call episodic – or maybe structurally disorganized is a better term – and winds up with an ending circa 1804. At the time, I didn’t know any better, although my anachronistic impulses today would likely get the same result.
Hahaha.
The video is view off my back porch into the neighbors’ woods.
