Saved By the Bell #2 (Again)
Saved By the Bell is another chestnut from the archive written in 1986 or so. This is the 2nd of 2 songs in this tuning that share this title and a certain spiritual similarity.
In my mind’s eye, I am still sitting fidgeting in the back row of Algebra I on a sunny Friday in late May. I am splitting my attention between the activity of the sewer repair visible out at the street and the clock above the teacher’s head which has been stuck at 2:55 pm for the past 45 minutes.
I recovered the 5th gear in my picking hand a couple weeks back and thought I would take another crack at it (both the original recording and one from last year are posted elsewhere on this site) – this version is better than last years take, but still not up to snuff with original.
Lets see how it pans out with another year of practice this time in 2024!
The original was done on old Taylor 555, the most recent versions on 555c which is not quite as powerful a 12 string as the 555.
The phlox was quite verdant this past week across the road on the edge of my neighbor’s corn field…
