Sequoia
3/5/2023
Looking forward to spring, I guess that starts to happen in Michigan at some point for most people, some earlier than not.
I have over the years grown a number of trees from seed (there is a 20 year old, 40′ American chestnut in the front yard, a 1/2 dozen nice full grown redbuds scattered through lot, etc.,).
My latest project is a Sequoia tree to keep the chestnut and a nearby dawn redwood company. The Sequoia came in the mail last fall, and has been doing its thing in my greenhouse.
This little sequoia is what I would term, along with my music, one of my longer term development efforts. All in the fullness of time.
The flowers featured in the video are from my garden or greenhouse and are wishful thinking in March…
Sequoia is a bit of evergreen 12 string theme written and recorded maybe 42 years ago on an old $125 Yamaha dreadnought 12 string which I still have but mostly don’t play. The guitar is a bit of a knuckleduster for my arthritic hands these days. At the time I recorded this piece, it was however the only such tool at hand. Necessity is the mother of invention.
