Now We Are Sixty
My neighbor Felicia gave me some spare foxglove plants back in early August with the hope that I would dig up some of my purple hostas for her in exchange. I had been putting that off because this summer and fall has been one thing after another at our house and I have pretty much left the yard alone. Tomorrow is supposed to be mild so it seems like a good day to pot some plants up and then Felicia can get them in the ground before it gets real cold.
Funny how sometimes things surprise you and decide to bloom out of season, one of Felicia’s foxglove had some nice flowers this week…
I wrote the song Now We Are Sixty 35 years ago. When I started to pick a away at the guitar again last year it was one of the first things I dredged out of the archive to try to play, its a fun song in one of my favorite tunings.
The picture of the yard was taken on the way out to check the mail today, it was a beautiful fall day.
I recorded this video version of Now We Are Sixty after lunch today on the Taylor 555c 12 string, it is such a joy to play things that fit this guitar, and this song fits it like a glove.
The orchid at left was blooming today in my office’s greenhouse.
