Marcy Cat
Marcy Cat was a stray kitten who showed up on the kitchen window sill one very cold December evening 12 years ago. I was away with my son at one of his soccer tournaments in Texas and Ingrid called me and asked “what should I do?”.
So we put her in the barn where it was warm and set her up with food and a bed and she has been there for the past 12 years. 8 years ago, I finished off the upstairs of the barn for my office and was able to work from home at that time. It became Marcy’s office too, we were joined at the hip each day as I did my data science thing.
Marcy mastered the Microsoft Office Suite, scheduling meetings, sending me emails, creating PowerPoint slides and attaching them to important messages.
She was learning Tableau as well in recent weeks and surely would have achieved great proficiency with more practice.
I was just starting to get over missing my big orange cat George who left this mortal coil this past June, and a month later Marcy also passed away despite my, and the veterinarians’, best efforts to help her along.
Ingrid tells me that they won’t live forever and I just need to enjoy them while they are with us, which I suppose is true, but I am childish and don’t view the loss in such a reasonable way.
Sigh.
I have included a video I made yesterday (7/24/22) of a little song for Marcy, as well as a photo show accompanying another brief song that seemed to fit her sweet and tranquil character…
