Black Kettle – 3/23/26

We have had a family visitor for the past few weeks so I haven’t had much time to record new music. Yesterday we had a nice drive to the Poas Volcano National Park though, where I took some cell phone video of the volcano. I also saved dashcam footage of the drive into the Park.
The ride up to the volcano was largely uneventful until Google Maps decided to reroute us up Calle Viejo Volcan (Old Volcano Road). This was a barely single lane, no shoulders, no driveways or turnarounds available road. It was maybe a kilometer long and we rose up I am guessing the last 400-500 feet of elevation to the volcano park (which is at about 4,500 ft elevation). Thankfully nobody was coming down the hill. Phew!

I found a really nice analog recording of one of the first songs I wrote, maybe back in 1979 or 80. I put the chocolate & peanut butter together so to speak and this video is what I ended up with. This is one of the few songs I have written in a standard tuning, its played on my favorite 12 string – a Taylor 1981 555 which I used as my primary guitar for many years. Not sure when the original recording was made. Maybe 1985?
