Blue Skies & Cherry Pies – 3/11/26
Blue Skies & Cherry Pies is a trifle but a happy little thing nonetheless. I wrote it while in graduate school but I play it a bit differently now. The original recording I made has a really nifty flange effect and on the 12 string it sounded like a farfisa organ. I think that version is available on this site too.
This piece is in a C#F#C#F#A#C# (F#) tuning, which is quite a happy thing altogether. It took 40 or 50 takes to get something that was palatable, its not a difficult piece in theory but the 12 string always is a challenge to get stuff to sound clean and crisp for 3 minutes…
Bobbi & Belschnickel are my outdoor cats and they are partners in crime so to speak. Belschnickel (little white & tabby cat) is Bobbi’s assistant and trainee as far as I can tell. Bobbi is getting up in years but can turn on a burst of speed to evade Bosco dog.
